Self-Compassion

Self-compassion involves treating yourself the way you treat a friend who is going through a difficult time, even if your friend made a big mistake and feels that they are responsible for that mistake. There are times when it will be easier to be self-compassionate than at other times, but generally it involves being kind to yourself and being a good friend to yourself; it also involves being able to show yourself empathy. There are three elements to self-compassion: self-kindness, common humanity and mindfulness.


A good way to become more self-compassionate is to use

a self-compassion journal for guidance, monitoring and to introduce you to concepts and ways that can encourage you to live a more self-compassionate life.
